I do feel very sorry for the good people who die without allowing themselves the consolation of believing in some sort of afterlife. I'm sorry if this sounds condescending to you, but it is how I honestly feel.

Forcing oneself to believe that we die when our body dies is *reverse* wishful thinking. See Stapledon's quote in my previous post.

You didn't address my main point - that there are scientifically plausible pictures of a physical reality compatible with survival after death (natural and/or engineered). I've written a book about that.

I'm perfectly fine with agreeing to disagree. I don't want to convert people - I just want to make my philosophy available to those who might find it useful.
