It is not *only* a SF idea, but a scientific idea that more and mote top physicists are warming up to.

But yes, I also find the many-worlds idea bothering for the same reason. Also, for those countless versions of me who live a life much less happy than mine.

A possible way out is that not *all* conceivable worlds exist, but only a subset.
